HOUSTON, TX January 23, 2007 /VitaOffice.com
News/ -- FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- International Health and Wellness
Company Vitamark International announced this week that its
Appetizer Diet Cookie Line meets the guidelines set by the Alliance
for a Healthier Generation. The joint effort by the William J.
Clinton Foundation and the American Heart Association plans to
combat the spread of childhood obesity and the serious diseases such
as heart disease and diabetes, linked to it. They have developed a
comprehensive approach to stop the increase in childhood obesity by
2010.
David Bertrand, President of Vitamark, noted that while the Alliance
has not officially endorsed its product, the company takes great
pride in knowing its efforts to provide nutritious products that
promote a healthier lifestyle are aligned with the missions of
notable agencies and foundations such as the Alliance for a
Healthier Generation. He noted that the Alliance reports about 12
million U.S. youth ages 2-19 are overweight. An additional 12
million are at risk of being overweight. Those numbers represent
over one third of the pre-adult population of the United States.
Many Vitamark families are in contact with someone connected to this
demographic on a regular basis and can make a difference just by
introducing the Appetizer Diet® Cookie as an alternative to in
school or after school snacks.
In order to meet the Healthy Snack Guideline, The Appetizer Diet®
Cookies must be equal to or better than several stipulations set
forth by the Alliance. Some of the important areas are having no
Trans fats, low in sugars and sodium, be less than 150 calories and
derive fewer than 35% of calories from fat. The Vitamark Cookies not
only meet the criteria but are packed with fiber, protein, Omega III
fatty acids and provide up to 40% of the Daily Value of Vitamins A,C,
